YSU Weclome Week 2004
Physical Description: The design of this shirt shoots for the stars. A reddish-purple five-pointed star outline begins the design. This star is SO big that it is impossible to escape. We are able to see four arms of the star, excluding the bottom right arm. However, before we get to that, there is a smaller fully colored star near the bottom of the top arm of the first huge empty star. "unlock the" introduces the color black into the design. It's placement is just above the middle and cuts of the outline of the middle right arm close to the edge. Right underneath "unlock the" is "MAGIC" in the reddish-purple color to which the viewer of this shirt has surely become accustomed. "MAGIC" is written in an extremely plain font. Were it not for the clear white star shape the size of the first full reddish-purple star in the middle of the "A" to replace the customary triangle people would be sound asleep. To the outside left of the main star, where the meeting point of the middle left and bottom left arms come together being the top of the point, is another reddish-purple star. This star is slightly bigger than the smaller stars, but nowhere near the size of the big star. "Welcome Week 2004" is written in the same font as the "unlock the", but in a smaller size. "Youngstown State University" is smaller yet. All these words cover up the bottom right point of the star.
This shirt was way easier to get than the 2003 edition. I saw my boss, Debbe, and she told me to go get a shirt from a table "over there". So I did, along with Michelle and Sharene.
The woman behind the table didn't even attempt to say anything. No fool's barter to pretend to accomplish. Everyone who got a shirt also received some sort of pamphlet that I recycled. I was not thinking about doing a write-up for the shirt at the time. I wish I could go back in time to read the pamphlet, but I do not regret what I did. Why, even if I had a time machine, I would let myself recycle the pamphlet again and again. An odd time machine that would be to allow me to do so.
I prefer the 2004 edition of this shirt because it is just what it is. No attempt to be cool, and no apparent reason for its existence. The producer of the shirt was probably just as indifferent as most of the consumers who wear it. Rare that I ever get this feeling from a shirt, but it is a feeling that I will not forget.
What magic is there to unlock? I do not know. I fear whatever magic there would be would not be worth the hassle of casting a spell to get to the new magic.
