Volleyball is an amusing enough of a game. Played it a bunch in high school gym class, and a little bit afterwards. I have some personal volleyball memories that I would like to share with the world.
One, in high school, I got hit in the nuts when an errant volleyball came at me from the other court while I was serving at my correct court. I wasn't paying attention, I think because I had just completed a serve. In any event, I was not paying attention and had no idea some white ball meant me harm. I fell to the ground. From the other side of the court, I could hear two girls wondering why I down on the ground.
Two, during another game, I called a very easy ball which the jocks allowed me to go for it. I hit it with my head and it went out of bounds. Most of the people on my team were upset. Not have as upset as when Mr. Population BOOM! crashed the net which brought about an end to the game.
Third, one day I was walking down a neighborhood road. I found a camera in the middle of the street. I took it to the nearby grocery store to get the film developed. I was unpleased to find it was just a bunch of prom pictures. The only really amusing pic was some kid whose name I really can not remember wore this really stupid-looking black and white vest to prom according to the photograph.
After consluting some people in the know, we figured that it was some girl named Jen F.'s pictures.I considered giving her back the pictures until one day in gym class I chased after yet another lost volleyball. I ran all the way for the damn ball, and Jen F. threw the ball back to the court. I was not cool enough for her to give the ball back to me, as she thought high school meant something. So, I told her, "YOU'RE NOT GETTING YOUR PICTURES BACK!". She never did. In fact, I hope she reads this and knows that I threw the pictures away.
Fourth, for Colette's birthday, I left a festival to meet the rest of the party. I played a spirited game of volleyball with the rest of the crew. Although we lost, I was named MVP for my team. It is good that I lost, though, because Colette was on the other team. To be a loser on your birthday is a terrible feeling and I would have regretted making anyone feel that way on their happy day.
Colleen and Heather are two volleyball players that I knew. Colleen got a scholarship out of her volleyball abilities. Heather plays seriously on the court, but has more interesting callings in her life.
