Relevo Por La Vida
Physical Description: This is one those designs that puts everything up front for all to see. Centered on the whole front is a coming together of inter-related logos. The whole show starts off with a purple start at the toppy-top lefty-left. A crescent shape pointing towards the left follows. If the crescent makes one think of a moon, the three triangles along the implied arch will make the same person think of a sun. "RELEVO" is written in letters of the same purple as the elemental designs. "POR LA VIDA" is like "RELEVO" except it says "POR LA VIDA". Beneath the life of relaying is the logo of the American Cancer Society. How do I know this? Simple the left 1/5th or so of the logo is a red backgrounded, Caduceusesque figure with an exaggerated top and no wings. The other portion is a blue backgrounded wannabe trapezoid that has "American" on one line, "Cancer" on the next, and "Society" on the final line. A blue and white half-tone makes for a shadow you will not soon forget. To the right of the American Cancer Society logo is the name in blue and Spanish. "Sociedad Americana del Cancer" should have a an accent mark about the a in cancer, but the webmaster needs to find out the html code for that "a" with an accent mark.

As Donor Dale mentioned, these are the first shirts to be actively frozen before donation. Part of the way for children to win the shirt was to be the first to unfreeze the shirt from an ice block. Apparently, contestants were given sand and candles to aid them. I am happy I did not have to go through the rigamarole that other people were expected to go through to get this shirt. All I had to do is know Donor Dale and be willing to accept his gift.

These two shirts are, along with Desperita Latino, perhaps the start of a foreign language wing of the free shirt archive. Both shirts speak Spanish.

I am totally fine with these shirts being written in Spanish. Unlike some people I happen to talk to, I do not see Spanish becoming a second language in the United States as a problem. America is a land of immigrants who bring their individual partitions of experience to create a better whole. The more diverse, the merrier my experiences can potentially be.

Relevo Por La Vida translated into practical American English would mean "Relay For Life". Likewise, Sociedad Americana del Cancer, for practical purposes would come to mean "American Cancer Society". If you do not believe that part, look to the English Relay For Life Related Link and than the Spanish translation .

Unlike Relay for Life 2001, these Relay for Life shirts exhibit neither dating nor localization. Donor Dale assured me that the shirts were of a recent time and from around the area.

I have yet to participate in a Relay for Life. I do not forsee myself attending one anytime soon. When I have time off I tend to have better things to do than walk laps.

I was stopped in an elevator by a Hispanic woman who asked me if I participated in the Hispanic Relay for Life. I had to break her heart, but I think she'll get over it. Eventually, they all do.

5" x 7" containers are the best fit, but it's cool if your donation is bigger.
A name would be nice, too.
