Hoops For Heart
Physical Description: This shirt's design consists of a bunch of small little parts that come together in an orgy of color.

First, at the top left there exists a red upside down carrot shape ala ^. Inside this shape are three formations that are meant to be people. The middle of this group appears to be an adult, whose left arm is extended upwards and the point of a long triangle stands for a hand shown holding up the point. This figure is standing and has a circular head while the rest of his body is formed by polygons. The arms and legs are triangles while the body would probably best be described as a very narrow trapezoid. On the adult figure's right and the viewer's left is a smaller shaped human shape. This formation is small , but strong. Strong enough to hold up another red line. This small formation is supporting the red line, but not yet strong enough to produce a sharp point as the larger formation is able to do. To the other side of the larger formation is another small formation. The formation is still smaller then the first one mentioned/second in position. This third formation's circle head comes to the armpit of the the largest formation, while the second mentioned/first in position's head came to the relaxed arm of the large formation. The third formation is doing the same thing with a red line that the "youngest" formation is doing. In this situation at least, greater height equals greater height. To the right, "American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance" is displayed in a tiny italicized font.

Venturing to far reaches of the top right of the design yields a great find. "American Heart Association" with a trailing trademark symbol. To the right of that is a design that incorporates a torch placed over a heart. The heart is filled in completely with the color red. The torch, centered on top of the heart, has a red flame with a clear white center. There are two flames that are being blown to the right all night long, baby. The first part of the torch design that is not of fire is clear white and pretty much the shape of a very short and wide rectangle. The stem of the torch is formed by an upside down clear white triangle. "Fighting Heart Disease and Stroke" is placed underneath "American Heart Association" in a very tiny size and unornamentalized font.

Along the left side of the main part of the design is "HOOPS" written in a thick, bold, black font. You know that hoops are about to occur looking at the word, it is that powerful. To the right is a very busy design. At the beginning, we see a small quarter-circled field of orange. There will ultimately be eight fields of orange. The next thing to see is a red shadow outside of a thin, black outline of a clear white letter "h". This "h" is part of a series of letters that spell out "for heart". Underneath the "h" there is a thick, veritcal, black line. This black line continues throughout this part of the design. The vertical line will ultimately be crossed by 3 analogus lines in color and width, but not of orientation. The first line makes a valley shape, the second line is horizontal, while the bottom line of the thing makes a hill shape. The fields of orange are placed in between the black line structure. The rest of the other fields ocassionally have a missed spot that shows clear white. These are obvious intentions of the design to make it look fresh for the children. The black line structure ultimately is covered up by a black outlined red basketball hoop shaped object. There is a red halo with connecting diamonds underneath it, in case one was wondering how the conclusion of "basketball hoop" was arrived at. Inside this field of red are also inttional specks of blackness. At the bottom left of the design is a url "americanheart.org/hoops" written in black. To the bottom right of the design is a black line that is shorter the straighter it is, but expands as it curves. It is like a roof for "HOOPS" large with a proportionally smaller trademark symbol and "FOR HEART" smaller. These words are formed in a blocky font doubled on top of itself with a base of black and top of red.

Donor Dale's shirts again suffered a lag getting onto the free shirt archive. First, I kept on forgetting to take the shirts. Then, when it came time for the write-up I was on vacation out of the country. "However, now, finally," the reader can understand what exactly the two "for heart" shirts are all about.

The particulars of Hoops for Heart, to the best of my new reguritation can say is students collect pledges from people to give to the American Heart Association. I only imagine this to be a popular campaign due to how popular basketball is portrayed in the media. I do imagine that there are a lot of vicarious living donations, as that is the lifeblood of athletics in the schools.

Basketball is a game that I personally am very poor at performing. I have a crappy shot and do not know the moves. I am not that flashy of a person in general, and basketball as it is played by men professionally and on the streets seems to be about showsmanship. I'd be content to run around like an idiot all game and just have fun.

My memories of orgranized basketball consist of Tom (not Donor Tom) getting all upset when we were really young at not getting a shot in at Seth's driveway hoop. He kicks the ball and it swishs in perfectly. This only upset him more. Another one would be in middle school I just happened to be in position to lift out my arm and stuff Dave, who was on the basketball team. It looked far more impressive then it actually was in reality. I just happened to lift my arm out at as he was going back for the shot. It was a monster stuff to everyone else watching. It did earn me an amount of respect. That was something I did not get much of in middle school since I stepped outside of the pecking order even then.

To see other people play basketball, I far and above prefer women's basketball to men's. Men's basketball, as I was saying before, is too much of an individulist's interpretation of what I feel has always been a team game. I think part of my problem with watching it in general is that points are so easy to come by that they are next to meaningless. I want people to fight for points as if they mattered, not to rack up 100 for each team. Perhaps I should blame the introduction of the shot clock for this. I only fear if they took the clock out then the games would be really boring.
