Emergency Room
Physical Description: "ER" appears to your eye in a pattern of white and clear dots. "emergency room" is spelled out in a black, typewriter inspired font. This is all centered over my heart.

"EMERGENCY" is written in white and vertically down the side of both sleeves.

This shirt was told to me to be a shirt where an emergency room nurse decided to make a shirt for herself and her friends at work. I was given the shirt after the cool time to wear this shirt in the group was over. Now, it is cool to wear the shirt because it was featured on the free shirt archive.

I have been to the emergency room only once in my life that I can remember. That one time was when I fell at work and went into the only seizure I have ever had in my life.

I was later prescribed Dilantin for seizures that I did not have. Dilantin knocked me out more than the seizure ever did. I spent most of my time off sleeping, listening to Black Sabbath vol. 4. When I could finally stay awake after lowering my dosage, I had to walk with the help of a cane because I was always dizzy while under the influence of Dilantin.

If I would have known, I would have sold those terrible pills on the black market for a profit. While not the best thing to do for society; some pillhead would have enjoyed them.

As it seems with many things medical in the United States, there are complicated problems to which people offer kneejerk solutions which fit their agendas. In regards to emergency rooms, the high cost of health care contributes to the fact that not everyone has health care. Those without health care often use the emergency room for non-emergencies so they can actually get some care instead of being refused as soon as they are known not to be able to pay. Those that do have health care often use emergency rooms at nights and on weekends when most doctors are not on call.

Americans also have problems with overestimating what wrongs have happened to them and fail to realize that not everything bad that happens to them is an emergency that needs to be addressed by other people. The recent years have also brought about cuts in funding to hospitals, and therefore emergency rooms.

All of these come together to produce full waiting rooms, overworked nurses, overworked doctors, long waits, and increased prices. Do I have a silver bullet solution that can be instituted cheaply? No.
